miles of inlanders at the beach
I am re-reading Moby Dick by Herman Melville. It's appropriate reading now for being in his territory. Here is a quote that made me laugh. It's oh-so-true.
But look! Here come the crowds, pacing straight for a dive. Strange! Nothing will content them but the extremest limit of the lande; loitering under the shady lee of yonder warehouses will not sufice. No. The must get just as nigh the water as they possibly can without falling in. And there they stand - miles of them- leagues. Inlanders, all, they come from lanes and alleys, streets and avenues - north, east, south, and west. Yet here they all unite. Tell me, does the magnetic virtue of the needles of the compasses of all the ships attract them hither?

Go For Love

This is the theme challenge for the month of May at skineart.com
Skineart is a website dedicated to art created in moleskine sketchbooks. Theme challenge participation is not required, almost any art can be submitted. There are many great styles, mediums and ideas from artists around the world. All of them are inspirational works of art. http://www.skineart.com/
This drawing is sketchy. If I were to make this into a finished illustration, it would require some reworking and fine tuning.

porch view

I never get bored with this view. My porch faces due East, so sunrises are never missed. Sunset red, amber, purple and blue play a light show on the ridge. During the day, cloud shadows glide across the pasture and up into the hills. During the storms, the ridge disappears completely. This gives the strange illusion of being in a flat landscape. At night the stars are abundant above the canvas of the trees. This is the best view I've ever had the fortune of living with everyday.

rain!

Oh wonderful rain! It's been so long since we have had substantial rain. Now it is here, a day of celebration! The whole world needs it. For me it's like a nurturing cleansing of the soul. I love rain.
