Canned, or frozen vegetables?  Oh right...they come from plants!  Don't forget to remember this fact.  The joys of gardening.

Lillies of the Valley and woodland Violets.  They smell so wonderful and they are everywhere.

I finally got a new Moleskine brand sketchbook. I just love these little books.  The paper is thick and buttery smooth.  The size is perfect, 5.5 x 7".  These pages will inspire me to make more art.  It's like reuniting with an old friend.

Wimberley lavender farm

The lavender are in full bloom right now. The farm is west of town, not far from the town of Blanco, Texas.

century plant bloom

A century plant is a very large agave with sharp, painful needles. They bloom once, then die, leaving rooted starter plants. The stalks are very impressive. They grow quickly to about 20 feet tall. During this time, they look like the Jolly Green Giant's asparagus stalks. I was thrilled to learn recently that the stalks and blooms were used on movie sets as plants on alien planets in the cheesy old movies. Century plants are originally from Mexico, but they are all over the Texas Hill Country. This is my front yard.

I found this oval frame recently. It's fun for creating optical illusion art. There will be more of these.

springtime at the power plant

Acrylic on masonite. There are two layers here, the flowers above the background. This isn't quite finished, and may never be finished. It's been a great experiment and learning exercise.

The objective of this piece is to show the electrifying energy of springtime flowers.

blooming aloe vera and zebra succulent

I sketched this a couple weeks ago. Now, the bloom stalks are about 2 feet tall. I have quite a collection of succulents and cacti, many of them are blooming now.

This Spanish dagger caught my eye outside of Juan Henry's TexMex restaurant. Also, a century plant, agarita bush and live oak trees.

The random grouping of palm fronds have such a natural patterns, which is so rythmic and harmonious to me. When I first arrived in Florida recently, the sound of wind through the fronds added to the rythm. It's a wonderful reminder of how much I love the coast.

moon flowers

I found these moon flowers in Florida, right in front of a boat pier. They were indeed reaching up to the moon. I listened to The Marriage of Figaro while inking this drawing.

a walk in the woods

After a hard freeze, I wanted to see what it looked like in the woods. I found this tiny plant with great autumn colors.
