downtown

There is an explanation for this. While in Salt Lake City a couple of months ago, I sketched these charming old buildings. Back at home, the deer wander through my yard, so I sketch them often. I grab whatever paper is handy at the time, and it happened to be this. I never planned to finish this, but the pedestrian deer was too tempting to pass up. It's a nice change from another week of client artwork.

fictional figures

Final pages of moleskine 12. When starting on a new sketchbook, early on I come up with a theme for the final pages. These sketches evolve throughout the course of the sketchbook. This theme of fictional figures began with a trip to Salt Lake City. There seemed to be alot of these figures around downtown Salt Lake City.

Starbucks

Moleskine, brush pen and Photoshop. I've never tried the Iced Lemon Pound Cake from Starbucks, but it looks refreshingly tasty.

Hotel Monaco

Another downtown Salt Lake City drawing. This is drawn from a photo I took. I love digital cameras and tend to shoot lots of photos. I snapped well over 200 photos in S.L.C. I also love drawing downtown cityscapes.

house on a hill

I had a day off while recently working in Salt Lake City. According to my pedometer, I walked twelve and a half miles that day. This is a house on North State Street, which is on a very steep incline. The grand state capital of Utah is at the top of the hill. I recommend the hike (or drive) to the top for the view of the city below.

downtown diner

A great old diner in downtown Salt Lake City. I finally finished the Salt Lake City series of sketches. Last week I spent a few days in Dallas. Now it's time to ink those sketches. I'm finally beginning to catch up on travel sketches.

downtown diner still life

This drawing started at the Royal Eatery. I then added more elements from restaurants around town.

architectural details

Downtown Salt Lake City. There are some beautiful, old buildings around the area. Also, lots of new buildings under construction. All over downtown are signs and banners announcing "S.L.C. Rising". From what I've seen, many cities are constantly constructing new buildings.

Salt Lake City from the east

This was sketched from the south east end of downtown. The linear placement of the trees caught my attention. They are really beautiful with the mountains in the background.

Salt Lake City from the north

I sketched this from the top of steep hill, early in the morning. The state capital of Utah is just to the left of this scene.

dessert

Viennese chocolate cake with whipped cream and rasberry drizzle. Sketched and eaten at an outdoor cafe in Salt Lake City.
This is my entry for the monthly theme of "dessert" on http://www.skineart.com/

street food

Downtown Salt Lake City. The lunch time rush. I did not eat here but it sure smelled good.

Moleskine sketches

I am PowerPoint Graphics Girl for another corporate conference in Salt Lake City. Although I've been sketching, I have no scanner. A digital photo post will have to do for now.

Photo in picture in picture, in picture, and onward into infinity.
