The large pointed plants are agaves, known as century plants. They can grow very large, about 5 to 6 feet tall and wide. At maturity they grow giant, towering stalks with flowers. This is the grand show before their death. Quite the majestic plant they are!

Love the way you ink plants. I had a run in with some of these and other plants while in Texas (a few years ago).
Hey Joseph, what kind of a "run in"? Yeah, these plants can be real painful with their points. They can stick you through the muscle down to the bone. ouch.
While doing some survival training, in Texas, a friend and I where wrestling/horseplaying and ended up getting prodded by several different plants. All of them had points, that same trip I also ended up running into poison oak. Oh, what memories.
Wow, your pen and ink work is beautiful! Such graceful organic shapes. Inspiring!
