New England snow globe

Wind and snow, and then more snow and wind.  Not that it matters too much more than a hill of Boston baked beans, but this wickedly wild winter weather does in fact extend beyond the Boston city limits.  Cape Cod is only about fifty miles away.  I love this extreme winter weather!

Winter Storm Juno

Yesterday, in the midst of winter storm Juno, I trekked the 4 blocks to the beach.  This was before the snowplows could clear the roads, so it took about half an hour to get there with the snow up at my thighs.  The wind gusts were at least 60 m.p.h. while the snow blew sideways.  I love extreme winter weather like this!

windswept city

The strong, variable winds blow constantly, so the skins of the buildings are built of corrugated, hot-pressed banana leaves.  The buildings can sway and stretch with the winds.  No petroleum products needed.

windy 'toons

This is another piece with a similar feel as the art below.  This one has a cartoony personality.  It's another piece inspired by the flowing sound of music.

world without end

Back in early September, my adopted mother passed away.  This was the art I created just before, during and just after she died.  It is an image of moving into the next realm, which flows seamlessly through time and space.  Always spinning along in a unique, personal journey.  I was so entranced in this world that I could not stop until it was finished.  Some intense emotions they were.

the winds of change

An old barn and a new house along Winters Mill Parkway in Wimberley. Before the road was built, I hiked back here and got lost. It's hard to imagine, now that the landscape has been tamed.

"W" stands for Wind! These large sheets of paper were like sails in the 30 m.p.h. winds. Gotta love that duct tape!

the art of noise

My hippie neighbor's porch. He has a large collection of windchimes, so on windy days, you can hear his house from far away.

cold front

This cold front swept through for a few hours. The morning was cooler, down to 72 degrees. By afternoon, the front was gone, so the temperatures were back to blazing above 100 degrees. Still no rain.

the smell of rain

Yesterday, rainclouds blew through Wimberley but left hardly a drop of rain. I was 9 miles north visiting a friend while it poured down rain for over an hour. Driving home, I could see where the rain stopped, just a mile or 2 north of where I live. It was strange to step out of my truck with rain soaked shoes into the dry, dusty soil at home. Please rain soon!

It happened on a rock in the Blanco river.

rough seas

This started out as a sketch of the big, late afternoon Florida thunderclouds. While inking, it morphed into clouds and the ocean.

Hurricane Ike

To all those in Galveston and Houston, best of luck & hold on to your hats! To my family, friends and clients, hope to hear from you soon.
