A new experiment. I've made many three-dimensional pieces, always for frames. This will be the first book.

Garden Study

Sketched while on water & shade breaks while working at a local garden.

Fig, evening primrose, purple oxalis, red bud berries, century plant, mexican feather grass, purple sage, jerusalem sage, bluebonnet, dianthus, big black bug.

The Burger Basket

I went back to the small town diner for The Burger Basket. This is the place that won't give you a fork unless they know you (Friday night fish fry drawing). A burger sounded like a safe bet. If I go often enough, they will get to know me...then I'll order the spaghetti.

Spot

I saw this dog in a car. He was very unique with freckle spots on his face. The spots became stripes on his back. It looked like wet paint blown in a strong wind. I would love to find his owner to give him/her this art.

I took a trip to New York with a friend. We spent a long time shopping for shoes.

Bamboo Art

I finally finished these, after working on them off and on for four months. I harvested the bamboo from the local area. The panels are nice, old wooden cabinet doors. I wanted to keep the integrity of the wood, so the border is left natural, with a couple of coats of natural furniture oil. The green "foliage" and blue "sky" are painted on masonite. All pieces are painted with acrylics. I've always loved making & assembling three dimensional art.

Sketchbooks Past

I've been through many sketchbooks through the years. Some people have commented on Moleskine sketchbooks being a trendy fad. In my experience, Moleskine stands at the top for quality and durability, both in paper and craftsmanship. This trend will most likely stay with me for a long time.

Ladder Dance

I noticed this on the back wall of the auditorium in the local arts high school. During a jazz concert benefit for the school, someone asked if anyone had a camera to take a picture of this. I took out the sketchbook instead. I have no idea if this ladder was placed here on purpose. Hope it was planned!

Moleskine Watercolour Notebook

I recieved the Moleskine Watercolour Notebooks in the mail, what a great surprise! Thank you, Marsida and Moleskine People. Although I need some practice, I am so excited to fill these pages.

This first page was a sketch of a cowboy at the local rodeo grounds. They were waiting their turn for a competition. Both cowboy and horse were very patient, thank you!

1987 Royal Tug

While visiting family in Punta Gorda, Florida, I came across this beautiful little boat. As I sat on the dock sketching, the owner walked up, looking a bit apprehensive. Seeing the moleskine, he asked if I was writing a ticket for his boat. I told him no, I was just sketching his boat. He was honored. Ans so was I.

Flora of the Florida Coast

While in Florida, I sketched these plants, bushes and trees over a week's time. The collage of plants include the coconut palm in the early morning sun, to mangrove tendrils in the late afternoon shade. Florida is amazingly lush and colorful and alive.

Friday Night Fish Fry

Friday night I went to a small town diner for dinner. This place was a haven of happy locals who really enjoyed their meals together. Everyone got up from their tables to wander over for a visit with other "folks"....like they all know each other. I was by myself, with catfish plate and sketchbook. I felt sort of invisible, which was fun. Not being a local, the waitress brought me a spoon to eat with...said the forks were all in the dishwasher. I noticed the locals' meals were served with forks.

Rubber Band Print

Here is a sample of giclee prints of moleskine sketch art. Several of these are exhibited at a local art show. The output size is 9"x12". They were scanned at a very hi res, with the ribbon included, so the look of the moleskine book is preserved.

Home Sweet Home

This is my small but wonderful home. Built of limestone rock and cinderblock. The property was once a cattle ranch, this was the mechanic's shop.
