Some years back I made a quick sketch while visiting Kona, Hawaii.  Every once in a while when I come across this sketch, I scan, reprint and add more to it.  Essentially, it is decaying with each generation of print, but at the same time, vibrance is added with each new layer.  This is probably the fifth generation of the original sketch.

I colored this with Photoshop.  I wanted to show the earthiness of camping.  I've been camping quite a bit since moving to Massachusetts.  This is Shawmee State Forest in Sandwich, a part of Cape Cod.  Such big woods for being a couple of miles from the Atlantic ocean.

This originated in a dream. Also, there were grasshoppers, calves and rabbits. It was fauna melting into flora.

This tree is no more than 200 yards from my house. I walk past it and sometimes stop to look at it. I've never climbed it but would definitely have been up there when I was a kid. Back then, I loved making forts and hidden 'secret' places in the woods of Virginia. I revered nature in the early years, as I always will.
