Market Day

My guess is that this lady is from Dallas. Texans from around the state poke fun at other Texas cities. Dallas is endearingly known for its ladies' high fashion and Big Hair, in thanks to the international Apparel Mart and Mary Kay. Don't worry lady, I won't tell anyone you accessorize in Wimberley.

downtown Dallas

When I lived in Dallas, I had repeating dreams of sliding down the long, steep angled part of I.M. Pei's Fountain Place building. I always managed to wake up before landing on the ground.

Waiting for the bus. I believe this is Ross Avenue and Ackard Street.

Dallas Twestival

I was asked to create a web banner for the Dallas Twitter festival sponsoring the Women's Museum. As far as I know, the banner was never used. Oh well, it was fun to create anyway.

downtown Dallas

Waiting for the bus in downtown Dallas last Saturday afternoon. There were not many people around, probably because of businesses were closed and it was too hot for the tourists to be outside.

downtown Waco, Texas

This was a quick sketch during a stop in Waco, heading to Dallas. It's miserabley hot and dry this summer. Nobody wants to be outside during the heat of the day. Even in Dallas, the traffic is lighter than usual.

sunset parade

State Fair of Texas. The eccentric scarecrow and punk rock swan lady are stilt walkers, and the clowns are Shriners. It's best to view this with rink-a-dink-a-dink circus music in your head. I love this parade!

Fair Park, Dallas

Fair Park, Dallas. Finished in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exhibition, this park has the largest collection of art deco buildings in the world. Along the Esplanade there are 6 statues of women representing the nations that once ruled Texas. Along one side are Texas, the Confederacy and Spain. Along the opposite side are Mexico, France and the United States. This statue represents United States

fish fountain, State Fair of Texas

This fountain is in front of The Women's Museum at Fair Park in Dallas. Fair Park has one of the largest collections of Art Deco buildings in world. In my opinion, it is one of the finest places to visit in Dallas. Fair Park hosts the State Fair of Texas, and it is open to the public year-round.
