That's me sitting there drawing. The desk is a banquet table with file cabinets as supports. It's very functional for my small space. When I moved here 7 years ago, the scene out my window was pastures with grazing cattle and occasional horses. A few months ago that changed. It's soon to be a 19 home "gated community". It really hurt to sit here and watch the big, stinking deisel monsters rip the trees out of the ground. Yep, I s'pose I'm a tree hugger. This view still beats the heck out of the streets of Dallas. For anyone remotely interested, here is what's being offered to the new next door neighbors.
Is there another window facing the other way? I almost feel sorry for the new occupants of the gated community...they'll sit in their new made to match homes watching their lawns being mowed to regulation length courtesy of their h.o.a.
ReplyDeleteAnd what to do with their boats and r.v.s that are unwelcomed by the h.o.a.? No problem! Just down the road, a 500 unit storage facility is under construction! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI hate when they start destroying the country, progress or whatever you call it.... it stinks!
ReplyDeletePeople want to "get away" to the country. That's what the boats and r.v.'s are for. Once they get there, they find it's not here anymore.
ReplyDeleteflying fish...the other window is my laptop monitor.
As Joni Mitchell said, They paved paradise and put up a parking lot! Or in this case, a place to park their SUVs next to their double garages.
ReplyDeleteI admit that this all sounds like pretty negative news to start the new decade but who knows ... maybe these new neighbours may themselves become tree huggers and protect the local environment that they seem to be threatening.
Happy new year.
Thank you, Michael. I agree about the upbeat and hopeful attitude for the new year. So, on the bright side, I get to watch tiny men with big, stinky yellow machines move piles of dirt around all day long. And then there's the beep beep beep noises. I find myself tapping my fingers to that rythm. It's all only slightly amusing.
