This is the first linocut I've done since high school art class. I'm excited about making more. This was created with a rubber stamp block, which is almost the consistency of a pink eraser. Probably not the most concise material but a good practice piece.
Oh, this turned out exceptionally. I could see you doing a whole set of these- moons, trees, plants, objects... very cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rob! This is pretty crude but I've learned from it.
ReplyDeleteIt all falls in place, your graphic style and these linocuts. Great.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little different from your other work but your style still comes through. I have a few questions: How would you compare scratchboarding with linocuts? What is the size of this image? Did you use ink to stamp this image? And finally, do you intend to colour it with watercolours? (Please excuse all my questions.)
ReplyDeleteMichael...this is my 1st linocut (4" x 6") in many years. I have little idea of what I'm doing. Scratchboard is a similar technique but requires a more delicate hand. At this point I am very awkward and clumsy with the technique. I will definitely attempt more of these!
