This is a pinecone cactus. I love the alien, otherworldy shapes of succulents. Most of them, in my opinion have a happy, cartoon look to them. With the hot dry summers in this part of the world, these are not difficult to grow. Although I've killed a couple of jade plants, probably from over watering.
Cartoony they are! They could easily be talking characters based on your drawing. Another great one.
