Florida farmers' market

This was an unusually cool Saturday morning in Punta Gorda, Florida. The variety of clothing was entertaining.

Florida palms

I'm in sunny Florida for Thanksgiving. I love the sound of wind in palm fronds. It's cool here, but it looks and sounds tropical.

crepe myrtle bouquet

This is the first and only oil painting I've done. I think I was 17 years old.

kid art

I painted this little watercolor (8 x 10) when I was ten years old. It was one of my first paintings. At that time, our family lived in southern Virginia.

portrait of an artist's self-portrait

I listened to a story on the radio about this painting in a Barcelona museum. It's an artist painting a portrait of himself as an old man. The artist is looking over his shoulder, directly at the viewer. While listening to the description, I sketched this. I missed the name of the artist and the museum, but I'd love to see the painting.

still life with steering wheel

The rough sketch was done while waiting for the mechanic to bring a new alternator belt. I couldn't drive, so I sketched instead.

Wimberley Market Day

A giant flea market with over 400 booths, held on the first Saturday of the month in Wimberley, Texas. This event, sponsored by the Lion's Club, has been a town tradition since 1964. The website photo gallery has some nice images of what Market Days are all about.

Market Day

Bags! One must have a bag for Market Day. I seriously doubt that people remember coordinate their outfit with these loud flower and plaid pull cart bags. The combinations were highly entertaining!

Market Day

My guess is that this lady is from Dallas. Texans from around the state poke fun at other Texas cities. Dallas is endearingly known for its ladies' high fashion and Big Hair, in thanks to the international Apparel Mart and Mary Kay. Don't worry lady, I won't tell anyone you accessorize in Wimberley.

Market Day

No good flea market worth its reputation can go without food concessions. The early morning crowd goes for the breakfast tacos and coffee. The afternoon shoppers have hamburgers, hot dogs and barbeque sandwiches. A very popular booth is the kettle corn and roasted peanuts folks. Personally, I am an early morning breakfast taco kind of girl.

the pasture

The grasses are seeding and turning colors. The Blue Stem grass turns a rusty red, which gives the the nickname of "turkey foot" grass.
The cactus are easy enough to avoid in the pasture, but you have to pay attention. I was poked in the leg recently, they do hurt.
